Criticality Expertise Provider

We are seeking a highly skilled Criticality Expertise Provider to join our team at the Atomic Weapons Establishment.

About the Role:

As a Criticality Expertise Provider, you will be responsible for delivering criticality safety assessments, maintaining high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality, and engaging with stakeholders from technology centres, operations, project management, engineers, and conventional safety case teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver criticality safety assessments to facilities in line with programme demand and internal company procedures;
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality as well as professional conduct in-line with our core behaviours;
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders from technology centres, operations, project management, engineers, and conventional safety case teams;
  • Directly support work with nuclear material through criticality safety assessment support in a nuclear baseline role which is a key nuclear safety requirement.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £38,000 - £46,000 per annum, depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience;

Requirements:

  • Honours Degree (or equivalent) in science, mathematics, engineering or a closely related discipline or an equivalent level of work experience;
  • Examples of being able to communicate technical problems clearly and concisely to stakeholders with technical/non-technical backgrounds;
  • Desirable experience/skills: an understanding of relevant technical topics, experience of demonstrating good engineering and scientific judgement, knowledge of particle transport codes, and familiarity with assessment and analysis methodologies used in the field of criticality safety.
