Nuclear Physicist Role at AWE



We are seeking a Nuclear Physicist to join our team at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE). As a Nuclear Physicist, you will play a critical role in supporting the UK's nuclear deterrent and national nuclear security projects by advancing our understanding of nuclear warhead effects and environments.

Salary:We offer a competitive salary of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum.

Job Description:
This role involves:
  • Developing and applying computational models to understand nuclear warhead effects and environments
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges
  • Maintaining and developing expertise in relevant scientific fields
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders
  • Leading and mentoring junior scientists and engineers

Requirements:
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant scientific or STEM discipline
  • Proven track record of advancing scientific knowledge and addressing technical challenges
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
