Job Summary:

Sylvania is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Coach to join our team. As an Assistant Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting the varsity coach and contributing to the success of our wrestling program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the varsity coach in developing and implementing game plans and strategies.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to athletes, focusing on developing their fundamental skills and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Supervise athletes during practices, games, and other school-sanctioned events, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Stay up-to-date with national, state, league, and District rules and regulations related to wrestling.
  • Teach and emphasize safety procedures and precautions to athletes on a daily basis.
  • Assume leadership roles in team organization, style of play, practice schedules, equipment, and assigned responsibilities.
  • Report any violations or suspected violations of established rules and regulations to the Head Coach and Athletic Director within 24 hours.

Qualifications:

  • Valid first aid/CPR card.
  • Previous coaching experience specific to position.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
  • Willingness to maintain and improve knowledge through regular coursework and clinics.
  • Meet the WIAA coaching standard criteria.
  • Pass a state and federal background check.
