Employment Law Solicitor Job Description

Essex County Council is seeking an experienced Employment Law Solicitor to join their team. As a key member of the Dispute Resolution and Employment Law Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal advice and services to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice to clients on employment law matters, including discrimination claims, pensions, and TUPE.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure the delivery of a high-performing, client-facing legal service.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, including schools, local authorities, and the private sector.
  • Deliver outcomes against the business plan for legal services, supporting the Council's wider Organisation Strategy and vision.
  • Act as a legal practitioner and advocate, providing specialist advice and support to colleagues within the team.

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor/barrister with current membership of the Law Society or Bar Standards Board.
  • 2 years post-qualified experience and expert knowledge in relevant professional area.
  • Experience of working within a legal setting in a politically sensitive environment, providing high-quality advice to a wide range of clients.
  • Commercial awareness with sufficient professional credibility to maintain the existing client base.
