About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineering Professional to join our team at ENGINEERINGUK. As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills and knowledge in automation engineering maintenance.

Job Description

The Automation Engineer Trainee will be responsible for:

  • Participating in classroom training and workshops hosted offsite
  • Completing Amazon's on-the-job training program, delivered by our specialist RME team
  • Mentorship from our automation engineers

You will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas, such as organisation, prioritisation, data analysis, problem-solving techniques, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.

Year 1 is full-time residential (classroom) training at one of our training provider facilities. As a result, you may be required to work away from home Monday to Friday each week during term time, combined with short periods working at one of our operations warehouses.

Years 2 and 3 will comprise block release training at one of our training providers to continue with a HNC/D or Foundation degree. In year 4, you will complete a substantial work-based project and attend one of our university partners to complete a BSc degree. In addition, you will undergo PLC programming training on block release over the course of the apprenticeship.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have lived in the UK or an EEA, or British overseas territory for 3 years or more prior to commencing the apprenticeship
  2. Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the program
  3. Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2025 or later
  4. You will be 18 years old or older before entering an Amazon building
  5. Three A levels (or equivalent) at C or above in either Mathematics, IT, Physics, or an Engineering related subject, OR have completed a BTEC level 3 engineering qualification of 180 credits which must include further mathematics and have achieved 5 GCSE's (including Maths and English) at grade 1-4 (A - C)
  6. Please note, if you have received educational qualifications outside of the UK then we will require a Statement of Comparability to confirm your eligibility for the scheme
  7. You have a deep interest in automation engineering and strong willingness to learn
  8. You have a desire to learn practical workshop/tool usage skills
  9. You are able to read, understand and communicate in English, interact and engage comfortably with people at all levels of the business
  10. You can follow a list of guidelines and instructions (verbal or written) to deliver results and meet deadlines
  11. Demonstrate a hands-on, flexible, and proactive approach
  12. Possess excellent customer facing skills and be able to deliver impeccable customer service
  13. You seek and respond well to feedback
  14. Experience (or a willingness to learn and practice) working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
  15. You have flexibility in working hours and shift patterns to provide cover for operational requirements
