About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited. As a key member of our engineering function, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Main Responsibilities

Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime

Undertake emergency breakdown repairs and implement temporary fixes followed by permanent solutions

Own small-scale projects and deliver them in a pragmatic and proactive manner

Take a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and coordinate with contractors and suppliers as needed

Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through observations and experience

Work with risk assessments and method statements to develop safe working methods for repair procedures

Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations, following company processes and procedures

Requirements

Self-motivated and enthusiastic with minimal supervision

Proven experience working in an industrial, agricultural, or factory environment as a Mobile Fitter

Recognized apprenticeship (preferably higher-level standard) or ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential)

Strong practical mechanical systems background, with heavy industry experience preferred

Experience with welding and fabricating to a good standard, including removing and fitting bearings

Fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action

Capability to undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment

IT literate, with ability to use PCs, common applications, and company systems

Competent in application-based inspection schemes

Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly

Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices
