College Counsellor and Mental Health Specialist

About the Role:
The College Counsellor and Mental Health Officer will provide vital support to our students, promoting their mental health and wellbeing. This will involve delivering individual sessions, offering relevant guidance and signposting, and working closely with the college community to create a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- To hold a minimum Level 4 Foundation in Counselling qualification and be working towards BACP accreditation.
- To possess relevant degree or professional qualification in Mental Health Support and Mental Health First Aid trainer accreditation.
- To have Level 3-5 Safeguarding training and experience working with young people to raise awareness of mental health.
- To provide counselling to individuals and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of mental health presentations, including personality disorder diagnoses, self-harm, and suicidal ideation and intent.
- To have knowledge of risk and protective factors in relation to emotional, psychological, and interpersonal difficulties and be aware of mental health and safeguarding legislation and guidance.
