About the Role

We're looking for a talented Data Science Engineer to join our team at DraftKings. As a Lead Data Science Engineer, you will be responsible for researching and implementing data science applications, creating statistical and machine learning models, and integrating them into our sportsbook platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data science applications in Python
  • Create statistical and machine learning models and integrate them into our sportsbook platform
  • Work with our MLOps pipeline to deploy and run models in a sportsbook environment
  • Data engineering of data assets to assist in data science application development
  • Write production-quality code to deploy and run models in a sportsbook environment
  • Create automatic tests to ensure accuracy and reliability of data science applications
  • Collaborate closely with product, developers, QAs, and delivery leads to move projects from ideation to development and deployment
  • Test data flows to ensure they work as expected and integrate well with our sportsbook platform
  • Build advanced analytics tools for sportsbook product teams
  • Cross-functional communication and collaboration with various teams

Requirements

  • PhD, Masters, or Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • Highly proficient in at least one programming language, ideally Python, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
  • Understanding of different database technologies, including relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience implementing ML automation, MLOps principles, and related tools
  • AWS experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with typical DevOps flows, such as containerization (e.g., Docker) and monitoring (e.g., ELK, Grafana)
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Kafka is very desirable
  • Knowledge of web frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django) and HTTP APIs is desirable
  • Keen interest in sports
  • Understanding of sportsbook products is considered an asset
  • Experience leading and coaching other data scientists
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to articulate key business information quickly and effectively
