Head of Education Services for Military Children

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Education Services for Military Children to lead our MOD Virtual School team. As a key member of our Defence Children Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the educational well-being of military children across the globe.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the education provision for military children in non-DCS schools, including those who are electively home educated. You will work closely with our Education Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and other key stakeholders to ensure that children receive a suitable education and have their welfare needs met.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the MOD Virtual School team and set the strategic direction for education services
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including school senior leaders, overseas Commands, and health/social care professionals
- Work with key partners to develop plans and programmes of support that meet the needs of Service children in non-DCS schools
- Ensure referrals to other supporting agencies are made at the appropriate point and in a timely manner
We are looking for a confident, strategic leader with a proven record of success in improving outcomes for children and young people in an education or local authority setting. You will have excellent skills in teamwork and diplomacy, and be able to influence other stakeholders to secure the best outcomes for children.
You will also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by military children and their families, and be able to work effectively with children and young people across education phases.
