About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children within the borough. As a Child Protection Chair, you will be responsible for chairing child protection conferences, monitoring and reviewing child protection plans, and providing expert guidance and support to social workers and other professionals involved in safeguarding children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Chair child protection conferences, ensuring that all decisions are made in the best interests of the child.
  • Monitor and review child protection plans to ensure they are effective and responsive to the needs of the child.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to social workers and other professionals involved in safeguarding children.
  • Ensure that the views of children, families, and carers are central to the decision-making process.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of conferences and decisions, in line with statutory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to promote best practices in safeguarding.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of safeguarding services within the borough.
Requirements
  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Extensive experience in child protection, including chairing complex meetings and conferences.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a demanding workload.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
