About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Estimator Assistant to join our Pre-Construction team at Galliford Try. As an Estimator Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Estimating team with the preparation and development of submissions for competitive tenders and negotiations for a range of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend pre, mid, and post-tender meetings with the bid team to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Download and review enquiry information, managing it as required to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain Management and Procurement teams to select suitable companies for quotations and supporting information.
  • Update and maintain the enquiry database system to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Support the wider pre-construction team as required, providing assistance with tasks and projects as needed.
  • Maintain the pre-contract supply chain database of suppliers, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Update and maintain the Benchmark of Cost Data on a bi-monthly basis to ensure accurate and reliable cost estimates.
  • Undertake quantity take-offs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings to ensure accurate and reliable cost estimates.
  • Assist with the cost planning of projects from initial feasibility to contract, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by the Pre-Construction Director and/or Estimating team to assist with securing work.

About You:

  • Computer literate with knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided estimating and measurement software, such as Conquest, REVU Bluebeam, or similar, would be an advantage, but training will be provided.
  • An interest in the built environment and a passion for delivering high-quality results.
  • Understanding of project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required.
  • Knowledge of different procurement routes and forms of building contracts would be an advantage but not essential.
