About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Security Engineer to join our Vulnerability Management team at Tesco Technology. This exciting opportunity allows you to apply your existing security-focused skills while developing new ones and make a significant impact on the security posture of our systems and platforms.
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will be responsible for being hands-on with critical security tooling, automating operational burden, and providing actionable insights into the security posture of our systems and platforms. You will work closely with other teams to drive innovation across our prevention, detection, and response capabilities. When major security incidents occur, you will be part of the response team, bringing your experience to help resolve the issue.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build and maintain our detection, data correlation, and response capabilities in the Vulnerability Management space.
  2. Evaluate new tools and techniques, articulating their value and impact, and help lead the roadmap and strategy for Security testing.
  3. Create Exposure Management capabilities to feed into our assurance process, demonstrating the effectiveness of security controls and guardrails across the business.
  4. Develop a range of capabilities to inform stakeholders on the status and progress of Vulnerability Management remediation efforts across engineering and leadership.
  5. Automate integrations between platforms and tooling, translating requirements into tasks and code.
  6. Contribute to our internal detection engineering programme using observations from security incidents, Bug Bounty submissions, and external threat intelligence.
  7. Upskill our analysts in Vulnerability Management and identify patterns and issues that can be fixed centrally.
  8. Perform POC assessments from our active Bug Bounty Program.

Requirements
  1. 4+ years of experience working in the IT Security Industry.
  2. Experience responding to security incidents in large-scale corporate environments.
  3. A good understanding of Bug Bounty programmes and active participation in this field.
  4. Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Power Shell, Terraform, or similar.
  5. Experience with security controls and detection capabilities within Microsoft Azure at enterprise scale.
  6. Expertise in networking, web services, and application testing.
  7. Expert knowledge of DNS preventative network controls.
  8. Experience with Vulnerability Scanning tools, such as Qualys and Tenable, and categorizing criticality and risk of vulnerabilities.
  9. Keen to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and bringing industry standards to everything we do.
  10. Proactive and able to operate independently, comfortable with ambiguity.
  11. Resilient, taking ownership of seeing issues through to resolution while looking after yourself to be at your best.
