Murray Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Lanarkshire. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in calculating costs for reactive and installation projects, preparing quotations for clients, and working closely with our technical sales estimator.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and engineers' documentation to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Estimate costs of materials, labour, equipment, and other expenses, determining quantities and pricing each component to produce a comprehensive cost estimate.
  • Compile detailed and itemized estimates outlining total project cost, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare and submit bids or quotations to potential clients or contractors, considering competitive bidding and profitability.
  • Collaborate with directors, engineers, and clients to ensure all project aspects are understood and accurately reflected in the estimate.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the project, including appropriate contingencies in the estimate to mitigate these risks.
  • Assist in cost control and management throughout the project, comparing actual costs to estimated costs and identifying any variances.
  • Revised estimates as project details change or additional information becomes available, ensuring cost projections remain accurate and up-to-date.
  • Maintain thorough records of all estimates, bids, and project documentation for future reference and auditing purposes.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, material costs, labour rates, compliance, and other factors affecting cost estimate accuracy.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a similar position or technical estimating experience, or an engineer looking to move into estimating.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Experience in the Construction, Facilities Management, Water Treatment, Electrical, or Mechanical industry.
