We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Waste Operative with Forklift Licence to join our team at Sodexo. As a key member of our environmental services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of waste streams across our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and transport various types of waste, including manufacturing, domestic, and recyclable waste, from all departments and buildings within the facility.
- Ensure the correct segregation of waste streams to meet the company's waste policy and minimize waste disposal costs.
- Operate ride-on sweepers and forklift trucks safely and efficiently within the site boundaries.
- Perform routine daily checks on electric forklifts and waste handling equipment to ensure operational fitness and report any faults to the Waste Team Leader.
- Undertake minor repairs to waste bins and other equipment using a range of simple hand tools.
- Ensure the security of waste bins before removal, including checking that they are not overfull, the lid is secured, and locked.
- Immediately report any leaks from clinical waste bins and notify the Team Leader, following the safe systems of work documentation.
- Be conversant with the Safe Systems of Work procedures as they apply to waste collection incidents.
- Operate waste handling plant and equipment, including power-cleaning equipment.
- Clean waste bins and containers, as well as workshops, plant rooms, plant, and machinery.
- Maintain and clean the factory yard.
- Move materials and equipment as required.
- Respond to and complete tasks, schedules, or ad-hoc requests as per company policy.
- Undertake any training required to carry out the duties of the post.
- Identify and report all waste disposal problems, including incorrect disposal by users and potential fire/security hazards.
- Comply with Health and Safety requirements, understanding and using safe working practices and utilizing proactive clothing as prescribed and provided.
- Excellent communication and literacy skills.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to comply with service requirements in line with client and company policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current FLT Licence.
- Good understanding of HSE.
