About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled SHEQ Advisor to join our team at Build Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing dedicated Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality support to our operational and office teams.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Health, Safety, and Environmental Support: Provide expert guidance and support to our teams to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  2. System Development and Implementation: Develop and implement systems and processes to grow our client base and identify new markets.
  3. Relationship Management: Maintain and promote positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Risk Management: Ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks related to safety, operations, and commercial activities.
  5. Training and Coaching: Deliver training, support, and coaching on SHEQ matters to our teams.
  6. SHEQ Compliance: Manage SHEQ functions to ensure 100% compliance across service areas.
  7. Accreditation and Membership: Act as custodian for SHEQ accreditations and memberships.
  8. Reporting and Auditing: Produce SHEQ reports and conduct audits to address non-conformities.
  9. Policies and Procedures: Develop and review SHEQ policies and procedures.
  10. Statistical Analysis: Compile statistical reports and presentations.
  11. Equipment Safety: Ensure equipment safety and compliance.
  12. Environmental Impact: Monitor environmental impacts.
  13. Risk Register: Update and manage the risk register.
  14. Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards on-site.
  15. Liaison: Liaise with SHEQ Inspectors, HSE, and trade unions.
  16. Training and Development: Conduct in-house SHEQ training.
  17. Audits and Inspections: Carry out asbestos and scaffolding audits.
  18. Representation: Attend various H&S meetings and represent the company.
  19. Risk Identification: Identify risks and opportunities, advising on mitigation strategies.
  20. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure equipment maintenance and compliance.
  21. Fire Safety: Carry out fire strategies, plans, and risk assessments.
  22. Legislative Updates: Stay updated with SHE legislation.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced SHEQ Advisor with the following qualifications and skills:

  1. SMSTS qualification
  2. Valid driving license
  3. IOSH Working Safely
  4. NEBOSH National Certificate General
  5. Recognised Fire remedial works qualifications/experience

Desirable qualifications include:

  1. CSCS card in site management/supervision
  2. Asbestos surveying and remedial works qualifications/experience
  3. Degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management
  4. IOSH Managing Safely
  5. NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or equivalent

We are looking for a candidate with strong problem-solving and attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry, particularly in the Social Housing sector, and experience in multiple refurbishment projects.
