Building Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Building Maintenance Operative to join our team at Pets Choice. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Blackburn sites on Lower Philips Road.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out general building and grounds maintenance tasks, from routine repairs to larger projects, to maintain a safe and clean environment for all.
- Work closely with the Engineering Department and liaise with other departments, such as Warehouse and Head Office, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Undertake maintenance tasks as directed, prioritizing urgent tasks and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Maintain the building fabric, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained and meet Good Manufacturing Practices requirements.
- Ensure that standards and procedures are adhered to, working closely with Health & Safety to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist the engineering maintenance team members as required, providing support and expertise to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
- Assist in the improvement of Health & Safety standards across all sites, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
- Record all works on the CMMS system, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the wider Pets Choice team, providing support and assistance as needed.
- Support the delivery of continuous improvement action plans, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance our facilities and services.
- Support with developing the maintenance schedule alongside the Engineering Manager, ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and executed efficiently.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with a varying selection of tools, including painting, joinery, plumbing, and other building maintenance skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a team when required, providing support and assistance as needed.
- A good communicator at all levels, able to effectively communicate with colleagues, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities, managing competing demands and deadlines to ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
- A problem solver with an eye for detail and accuracy, able to identify and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
- A dynamic self-starter with a positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be fluent in English, verbal and written, with a good understanding of business operations and facilities management.
