Special Needs Learning Support Assistant

About the Role:
GSL Education is seeking passionate graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies to join a specialist school as Learning Support Assistants (LSA). This role is ideal for graduates aiming to gain practical experience working with SEN children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with students using a restorative approach.
- Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
- Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
- Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
- Working 1:1 with students offering extra support
Key Requirements:
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 or equivalent
- A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
- The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
- A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service.
