UCB is seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Scientist to join our Research Analytics team in the UK, where you will play a pivotal role in advancing our drug discovery and development efforts.
About the Role
As a key member of the Research Analytics group, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced data analytical strategies to support drug discovery and development programs. You will analyze complex biological and chemical data sets to identify patterns, trends, and potential therapeutic targets and drug candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply innovative computational approaches to enhance data analysis and interpretation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive decision-making throughout the drug discovery process.
- Manage 1-2 direct reports and set the team up for growth, strengthen our digital talent, and foster a culture of open-minded co-creation of innovative solutions.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, bioinformatics, and machine learning, and integrate relevant methodologies into research projects.
- Act as a subject matter expert in research analytics, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Requirements
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven track record of applying advanced data analytical techniques to drug discovery and development projects.
- Expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Jupyter, Scikit-learn, and Spotfire.
- Experience working with large-scale biological and chemical data sets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
