Job Title:SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a bespoke Specialist School in Berkeley. The successful candidate will support children with SEMH needs, promoting their learning and wellbeing in a safe and caring environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a positive and supportive relationship with pupils, enabling them to feel safe and confident in their learning.
  • Promote independence and personal development in pupils, maintaining high expectations of behaviour at all times.
  • Contribute to providing high-quality educational activities and experiences, supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Support the Class Teacher in the day-to-day running of the class, responding to the varying needs of the school.
  • Promote pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
  • Under the guidance of a more senior TA or teacher, ensure accurate documentation of incidents, health, behaviour, etc.

Requirements:
  • A GCSE (or equivalent qualification) pass in Maths and English is essential.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is required.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
  • Commitment to the role, treating each child as an individual, and being positive and creative in meeting their needs.
