Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Nursing Assistant to join our dynamic Children's Clinical Decision Unit team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care to children and teenagers, working closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

As a Nursing Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Caring for children and teenagers with the support of a registered nurse
  • Assisting with house-keeping duties and maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and carers, using alternative methods of communication when necessary
  • Preparing patients and families for procedures, including distracting children and supporting them during medical procedures
  • Participating in the allocation of rooms and stock orders, and contributing to the smooth running of the department

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Evidence of a Level 2 Apprenticeship or Diploma in a health-related subject
  • Experience in the NHS and/or health/child care, with an interest in the speciality and knowledge of wider issues relating to healthcare
  • A clear understanding of professional accountability, delegation, and professionalism related to the role of a band 3 worker
  • The ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and carers, and all members of the multidisciplinary team
