Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, where you will be working on the development of a clean, sustainable global 21st century high-density energy storage system.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Chemical or Mechanical Engineer with a PhD to develop their career within a small but growing R&D team in industry, scaling up technology and bringing their engineering strengths to the team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with Polymer and Electrochemistry Research Scientists to provide Development expertise and support.
  2. Lead projects focused on improving the technology, including scale-up and implementation into new prototypes.
  3. Validate new technology, including scale-up and implementation into new prototypes.
  4. Develop creative solutions to improve a prototype's KPIs.
  5. Generate new prototype concepts and carry out experiments to support their development.
  6. Act as an interface between the Research and Prototype Development teams.
Requirements
  1. PhD in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  2. Demonstrable hands-on engineering skillset, with an understanding of chemical systems and manufacturing processes.
  3. Process Development and optimisation experience, within pilot-line manufacturing.
  4. Experience scaling up technology and increasing TRL.
  5. Project Management experience.
  6. Start-up mentality.
  7. Experience with batteries, supercapacitors or similar is preferred.
  8. Happy to work on-site.
