We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Isle of Wight, a category B male training prison. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing medical leadership and expert advice on medical and primary care issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical leadership and expert advice on medical and primary care issues
  • Support other GPs and ANPs working in the service with peer review and clinical supervision
  • Oversee the induction of new GPs into the local site
  • Identify and utilize evidence-based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place for managing results, letters, and tasks
  • Support the development of Local Operating Policies
  • Support the Head of Healthcare at Local Delivery Board meetings
  • Attend Clinical Forums
  • Reviewing CVs for potential new GPs and locum/agency GPs and support the recruitment of new GPs into the service

  • Competitive salary up to £120,000 per annum depending on experience

Requirements:
  • MBChB or MBBS qualification
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • Interest in long-term conditions
  • Knowledge and methods of developing clinical quality assurance
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships
