Job Description

Job Title: Student Engagement Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Highlands and Islands Students' Association UHI is seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Engagement Coordinator to join our team. As the face of the Students' Association at the local partner, the postholder will be responsible for facilitating and enhancing student engagement through communication with students, elected Officers, staff, and external stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for students at the Academic Partner, encouraging them to get involved in the Students' Association and extra-curricular activities.
  • Support and create in-person events and activities to promote student engagement.
  • Assist in the delivery of departmental campaigns, Freshers planning and delivery, induction presentations, and the activities, communications, and running of the Student Voice Representative (SVR) system.
  • Develop relationships with key members of staff within the Academic Partner and key external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with other Association staff members to develop key student engagement strategies.
  • Provide advice and guidance to students, signpost more complex cases to the Advice Service or other support and guidance for academic/pastoral issues.
  • Undertake key administrative duties such as managing shared email inboxes, tracking finances, generating reports, and keeping records for Student Voice Rep engagement and meetings.

  • Enthusiastic advocates for student leadership and the organization's values.
  • Promote a positive and professional image of the Association to its members, customers, stakeholders, and other external people.
  • Actively engage in student-facing projects and activities of all kinds as required.
  • Work at all times within relevant legislation, as well as structures, policies, and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with other Association staff and Officers as appropriate, as well as relevant organizations.
  • Adhere to the highest standards, especially of customer service and safety.
  • Undertake necessary training and development and attend all meetings as requested.
  • Positively contribute to the organization's ethical and environmental ethos.

Working Arrangements:

The postholder will be based at the HISA office in UHI Orkney in Kirkwall, although the nature of the role may require occasional travel to other UHI partnership locations.
