**Fusion Energy Pioneer**
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Magnet Technology Group Leader to join our team at UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA). As a pioneer in the field of fusion energy, you will play a pivotal role in developing a coherent and deployable strategic plan for Magnets Technology. Your expertise in superconducting magnet technology, leadership skills, and ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders, academia, and industry will be instrumental in growing the group's contribution and influence.
**About the Role**
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the future of fusion energy. As Magnet Technology Group Leader, you will lead a group of Magnet Development Engineers and provide technical and programmatic leadership for high-value projects. You will also propose exploitation plans for existing and future UKAEA magnet test facilities, engage with external industry, build strategic partnerships, and leverage the economic case for HTS magnet technology.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead a team of Magnet Development Engineers and act as an expert in magnet technology
- Propose exploitation plans for existing and future UKAEA magnet test facilities
- Build strategic partnerships with relevant industry, academia, and research institutes
- Leverage the economic case for HTS magnet technology
**Requirements**
- PhD or equivalent level of experience in superconducting magnet technology
- Extensive experience of leading in an R&D environment
- Chartered engineer of a professional body (or commensurate evidencable experience)
- Experience supervising technical individuals
- Experience in building and leading technical teams
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective relationships internally, externally and in a multinational community
