Job Opportunity: Highway Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading consultancy in Nottinghamshire as a Highway Engineer. The role involves delivering civil engineering projects and providing specialist engineering services to enhance and maintain the local road network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage the delivery of highway-related construction and maintenance projects, ensuring quality, programme, and financial targets are met.
  • Provide specialist design, technical, and cost advice to internal and external clients to support the delivery of complex and large-scale projects.
  • Manage the evaluation and authorisation of externally designed engineering schemes to ensure compliance with regional and national design specifications and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the Construction and Commercial Division to manage workflow and support the achievement of company business plan objectives for productivity and profit.
  • Act as an ambassador for individual schemes and the Company at local and regional events and networks to maintain a positive company reputation.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject and relevant experience or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering design environment.
  • Strong ICT skills, including competence in specialist computer applications used to support engineering design activities.
  • Working knowledge of current highway and civil engineering design standards, contracts, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, technical, traffic management, and other legislation and good practice relevant to highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance activities.
  • Experience in managing project budgets and financial reporting of project programme.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
