About the Role

Metro is seeking an experienced Airfreight Import Coordinator to join our Airfreight team on the Birmingham Business Park. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating the import of airfreight shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain customer standard operating procedures to ensure seamless import processes.
  • Provide clear financial understanding of each job file(s) within your remit, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to department managers.
  • Take ownership and accountability for delivering operational excellence, ensuring a 'customer is king' ethos is always applied in actions for the business.
  • Deliver accurate and timely paperwork in relation to the creation and issuance of import documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and in-depth understanding of the P&L of a job, making informed decisions to drive business growth.
  • Freight and invoice shipments, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Create operational reports, identifying and escalating anomalies to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, airlines, and overseas partners/agents, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure Metro's policies and procedures are adhered to, maintaining a high level of compliance and integrity.
Key Performance Areas
  • Respond to clients in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Create and issue deliveries and documentation accurately and on time, minimizing delays and errors.
  • Avoid airline storage charges for Metro's account, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure freighting and rating accuracy and timing meet company policies, minimizing errors and delays.
  • Respond to purchase queries within company policy time frames, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution.
  • Monitor and control costs and sales, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Follow operational reports and escalate anomalies to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Observe and apply country-specific requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Industry and operational knowledge of airfreight, with a strong understanding of import processes and procedures.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet fixed deadlines, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong numerical and commercial skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent usage of computer and operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise – preferable).
  • Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn and grow with the company.
