Job Title: Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Fellow to join our Neurosurgery team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced neurosurgeons and multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our neurosurgical services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide general clinical duties within the ward areas, including the neuroscience high-dependency unit, with an on-call commitment.
  • Work as an active member of a team consisting of junior doctors, clinical nurse specialists, and nurse practitioners under the guidance of a neurosurgical physician.
  • Gain experience across a number of neurosurgical sub-specialties.

Person Specification:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • Training in Radiation Protection or agreement to attend the next available course.
  • Previous surgical experience, including responsibility for acute admissions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Intercalated Degree.
  • MSc or PhD.
  • Academic Excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions, etc.).
  • MRCS.

Working Arrangements:

  • Resident when on-call.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Effective communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Up-to-date with current medical practices.
