We are seeking a skilled Senior Mental Health Support Worker (Neurodiversity) to join our team at HMP Wealstun. This is a brand new role, created due to growth within the mental health team as we expand our service to patients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a current Senior, or experienced Mental Health Support Worker, to take the next step in their development. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in Neurodiversity to join us to help our patients with conditions like ADHD, Autism, Learning Difficulties etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the mental health team in the delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.
  • Working with the nurses and nursing associates in mental health.
  • Help to run and promote Neurodiversity focussed patient groups, including those with ADHD, Autism, Learning Difficulties etc.
  • Support people to access care and treatment appropriately within the prison setting, working independently with lone working at times.

Requirements:

  • NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care.
  • An interest in mental health and Neurodiversity, with a desire to help those within their care.
  • A knowledge of Neurodiversity / mental health issues.
  • A flexible approach - you may be required to help out in other teams.
