We are seeking a skilled Rocket Propulsion System Specialist to contribute to the development of spacecraft propulsion systems at D-Orbit in the UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and improving propulsion system designs, working closely with our Spacecraft Propulsion and Thermal group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing propulsion subsystem requirements;
  • Supporting analyses for the propulsion subsystem;
  • Contributing to satellite propulsion AIV activities;
  • Defining propulsion tests plans, specifications, setup and procedures;
Requirements:
  • Experience in propulsion test planning and execution;
  • Knowledge of fluidic/pressurized test equipment, methods and guidelines;
  • Understanding of safety-related issues of propulsive/pressurized development and testing, including hazardous materials like flammable gases and oxidizers;
  • Analytical and modeling skills;
  • Familiarity with propulsion subsystems for in-space applications;
  • Ability to work independently and manage procedures effectively;
  • Prior experience in acquisition systems and data processing;
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, C, Matlab, others);
  • Knowledge of CAD modeling software;
  • Familiarity with ECSS Standards;
  • Understanding of EcosimPro-PROOSIS;
  • Familiarity with safety measures for propulsion subsystems;
Education:

A Master's degree or equivalent in Aerospace/Space Engineering or a related field is required.

Professional Experience:

At least 3 years of experience in space/aeronautical industries is necessary.

Language:

Fluency in English is mandatory. Basic knowledge of Italian is an asset.

The estimated annual salary for this role is £62,000 - £82,000, depending on experience.
