The Role: Spacecraft Propulsion Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Spacecraft Propulsion Specialist to join our team in the UK. As a key member of our Spacecraft Propulsion and Thermal group, you will contribute to the definition and improvement of Propulsion System designs for spacecraft.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining Propulsion Subsystem requirements;
  • Supporting analyses for the propulsion subsystem;
  • Supporting satellite propulsion AIV activities;
  • Defining propulsion tests plan, specifications, setup and procedures;

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in propulsion test planning and execution;
  • Experience with fluidic/pressurized test equipment, methods, and guidelines;
  • Experience with safety-related issues of propulsive/pressurized development and testing, including hazardous materials such as flammable gases and oxidizers;
  • Analytical and modelling skills;
  • Knowledge of propulsion subsystems for in-space applications;
  • Familiarity with procedure definition and management;
  • The capability of autonomous working;
  • Previous knowledge in acquisition systems and data processing;
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics;
  • Resilience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight schedules;

Preferred Skills

While not essential, experience with the following would be beneficial:

  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, C, Matlab, others);
  • Knowledge of CAD modelling software;
  • Familiarity with ECSS Standards;
  • Familiarity with EcosimPro-PROOSIS;
  • Familiarity with safety measures for propulsion subsystems;

Education and Experience

You will need an Advanced University Degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Aerospace/Space Engineering or similar, and at least 3 years of work experience in space/aeronautical industries.

Language

Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory, and basic knowledge of Italian is a plus.

Benefits

At D-Orbit, we offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus additional benefits and perks.
