About the Role
Ashworth Street Surgery is seeking a skilled and dedicated Health Care Assistant to join our team. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our general practice team to deliver high-quality primary care services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in patient care and practice-related duties under the direct supervision of GPs and Practice Nurses.
- Support the practice team in providing high-quality primary care services to patients.
- Work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.
- Attend all appropriate updates and refresher courses within specified timeframes for clinical tasks.
- Undertake specific clinical activities for named patients delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with the collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.
- Perform duties such as phlebotomy, blood pressure checks, ECG, urinalysis, and minor surgery assistance.
- Process and manage laboratory samples as requested by GPs.
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions.
About Us
Ashworth Street Surgery is a large training practice with 3 GP trainers. We are committed to good medical care with continuity and offer a wide range of services. Our practice has seen an increasing list size since its formation, and we have developed a number of extensions to accommodate additional clinicians and their consulting rooms.
Person Specification
Essential
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths.
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care.
- Qualified in Phlebotomy.
- 2 years general practice experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the role of a health care assistant.
- Aware of accountability within the role.
- Excellent team player.
- Good organisational skills.
- EMIS clinical system experience.

- Experience of home visits.
