Electrical Technician Vacancy

WGM Engineering has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Technician to work in our Engineering solution division, covering various sites throughout the Central belt of Scotland.

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive site work, including the removal, installation, and commissioning of rotational equipment. They will also undertake fault diagnostics and fault rectification on a wide range of electrical equipment, ensuring safe working practices at all times.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adopt a "work safe, home safe" mentality, adhering to company electrical safety rules, wiring regulations, and best practice codes.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring work is completed to the highest standard and supporting others within the business.
  • Coordinate site activities by working closely with site teams, office teams, supervisors, and business units across WGM.
  • Prepare status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions as necessary.
  • Perform safe isolation, installation, removal, and maintenance of rotating equipment and three-phase equipment.
  • Commission and test installed equipment, completing required test certification on Napit software.
  • Coordinate electrical and mixed trades on site, ensuring safe working and job delivery.
  • Provide job reports and condition assessments, identifying the correct method of rectifying faults.
  • Identify potential future work opportunities based on current job activities.
  • Coordinate site activities through close cooperation with the office team and electrical supervisor.
  • Scope electrical tasks across a wide range of applications and equipment types.
  • Utilize high-level troubleshooting capabilities for low and medium voltage equipment.
  • Work knowledge of VSD drives and ability to commission electrical apparatus.
  • Prepare technical reports and compile job documentation.
  • Support the job planning process with detailed technical information on equipment, tooling, and electrical materials.
  • Contribute to the work delivery program with knowledge of best practice.

To be considered for this position, you will have at least 2-3 years of electrical experience, ideally within an engineering background. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical skills and the ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently. Relevant electrical qualifications, such as an HND or equivalent, are required, along with being qualified to the 18th edition of the wiring regulations. A valid UK driving license is also essential for this role.
