Role Overview

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience working on high-voltage transmission systems and substations. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to the continued success of our energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Analysis: Develop and review electrical designs for high-voltage transmission systems, substations, and associated equipment.
  • Project Management: Oversee the execution of electrical engineering projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of electrical systems with existing National Grid infrastructure.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for electrical systems, with a focus on improving reliability and performance.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, standards, and health & safety regulations. Adhere to National Grid's operational requirements and safety protocols.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and technical documentation for project stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Electrical Engineer, with specific involvement in National Grid or similar power infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, and other key electrical infrastructure components.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., National Grid specifications, IEC, BS standards).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PowerWorld) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
