Job Overview

The University of York is seeking a highly skilled Digital Heritage Manager to lead the development of its conservation research data collections. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to drive the growth of the University's heritage science and conservation research initiatives.

About the Role

This full-time position will involve managing relationships with key stakeholders, including RICHeS collections projects and facilities, as well as developing new partnerships with Heritage Science and Conservation Research stakeholders. The successful candidate will report to the HSDS Service Manager and work closely with the Head of Collections Development to take responsibility for collections development in specific domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for growing the University's conservation research data collections
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including RICHeS collections projects and facilities
  • Develop new partnerships with Heritage Science and Conservation Research stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with the Digital Archives Officers and Assistants to deliver high-quality services
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities

Requirements

  • Graduate qualification in archaeology, heritage science and conservation, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in a management role, with a strong track record of delivering quality services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with national and international audiences
  • Strong IT skills, with expertise in digital preservation, information management, and the FAIR principles
