About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Flood Risk Management Engineer to join our team at Calderdale Council. As a key member of our Strategic Infrastructure Directorate, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective flood risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and provide advice on planning applications related to surface water management.
  • Ensure development in Calderdale aligns with the Supplementary Planning Document on Flood Risk and Drainage.
  • Uphold the Lead Local Flood Authority's statutory role within the planning process.
  • Provide specialist technical input to statutory and non-statutory planning consultation responses.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and management of the Council's Strategic Flood Risk Assessment.
Requirements
  • Experience working with water, drainage, flood risk, sustainable drainage, environmental science, geology, development, or infrastructure.
  • Graduate-level or equivalent experience in a related field, with over 3 years of industry experience.
  • Degree or equivalent training in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related specialism.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of flood risk management principles, land drainage systems, and LLFA functions.
