About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Programme and Education Team within the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP). As a Road Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in improving road safety for all road users in Sussex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the facilitation of multiple SSRP projects and programmes, working closely with partners and stakeholders to achieve road safety goals.
  • Gather, track, and analyse feedback from partners and external agencies to inform project development and evaluation.
  • Conduct research into new road safety initiatives and resources, identifying best value for money and potential to improve road safety.
  • Stay up-to-date with local and national emerging trends and road safety initiatives, providing reports to support colleagues in bid formulation.
  • Plan and attend public engagements, liaising with internal and external agencies to promote road safety awareness.
  • Record and report on key activities, including merchandise distributions, and costs associated with SSRP activity.
  • Develop professional relationships with SSRP partners and colleagues to improve communication and develop road safety programmes.
  • Attend relevant local and national road safety meetings and events, providing clear updates to stakeholders through verbal and written presentations.
  • Liaise with local road safety groups to share road safety awareness and improvements, initiatives, and projects.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and interactive skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt style and embrace change quickly and appropriately to suit the circumstances.
  • Holder of a UK driving/motorcycle licence.
  • Able to work in a target-driven and pressurised environment to tight timescales.
  • Able to use your own initiative, prioritise and organise workloads, and have a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Have an enquiring mind with the ability to problem-solve efficiently and effectively and explain reasoning.
  • Able to assess options and make decisions based on the information available.
