Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at ANDRITZ Hydropower Canada. As a key member of our hydro generator engineering group, you will be responsible for the custom design of large hydro generator components with a primary focus on North American generator projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with hydraulic and mechanical design engineers, drafters, and project teams to complete the generator design to meet specification requirements while optimizing costs over the project cycle.
- Perform analytical design calculations (stresses and strains) and technical specifications, in accordance with internal design practices and industry requirements.
- Produce engineering instructions for manufacturing and installation.
- Track and update engineering budgets and schedule with project teams.
- Organize and participate in design reviews.
- Review and seal technical documentation produced by yourself or under your supervision.
- Provide technical support for the manufacturing and installation of turbines or generators.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of tools and design practices.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Five (5) years in refurbishment or design of hydroelectric turbine/generator or in design and repair of heavy mechanical structure (pulp and paper, mining, etc.).
- Knowledge of MS Office suite, CAD system, and relevant IT tools.
- Fluency in English required.
- Manufacturing experience (welding, machining, and/or casting) and site experience an asset.
