Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Community Development Specialist. This role will focus on developing and implementing culturally sensitive services that promote mental health and wellbeing in ethnically diverse communities.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Senior Management Team to deliver a programme of work that supports the development of inclusive and accessible pathways and care for ethnically diverse communities. This will involve facilitating co-production with children, young people, and parents/carers networks, as well as building positive collaborative partnerships with diverse community groups and local statutory, voluntary, and independent organisations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of local inequalities and the impact of inequalities faced by ethnically diverse community groups in relation to mental health. They will be able to challenge discrimination and inequities in order to enable service change within CAMHS and influence Senior leadership.

We are committed to providing a person-centred approach to mental health care, and we are looking for someone who shares our values and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive services that promote mental health and wellbeing in ethnically diverse communities.
  • Work closely with our Senior Management Team to deliver a programme of work that supports the development of inclusive and accessible pathways and care for ethnically diverse communities.
  • Facilitate co-production with children, young people, and parents/carers networks.
  • Build positive collaborative partnerships with diverse community groups and local statutory, voluntary, and independent organisations.
  • Challenge discrimination and inequities in order to enable service change within CAMHS and influence Senior leadership.
Requirements
  • Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Work, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner or equivalent professional qualification in Mental Health or psychological interventions with CAMHS.
  • Formal postgraduate diploma level qualification in a relevant field and knowledge of mental health.
  • Substantial experience of CAMHS gained through working with children and young people.
  • Evidence of recent professional development.
  • Strong understanding of local inequalities and the impact of inequalities faced by ethnically diverse community groups in relation to mental health.
