Senior Technologist I (Specialist, Validation)

Abbott Diabetes Care is a global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of glucose monitoring systems. Our Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices in Witney, Oxfordshire, is a state-of-the-art facility that produces significant volumes of test strips annually and has been instrumental in the research, development, and manufacture of the next-generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Validation Specialist to join our Technical Services team in the role of Senior Technologist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading on validation requirements, supporting the transfer of product from R&D to Operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating validation documents, including plans, protocols, reports, FMEA, Critical Quality Attribute, and Critical Process Parameter derivation.
  • Ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Providing process development and characterisation support for new sensor products.
  • Working with various teams to support and execute validation tasks.
  • Supporting and leading investigations during new product introduction.

To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering field and prior experience of process validation (OQ/PQ). You must have excellent attention to detail skills, a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving, the ability to prioritise and manage projects, and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances or new demands.

You will be expected to spend time in the manufacturing facility, so you will need to have, or be able to develop, good hands-on practical skills. Good IT skills, including Excel and PowerPoint, are also required for this role.
