Job Summary

Thorn Baker Group is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join their team in the West Midlands. As a key member of the HSEQ team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the company's health and safety strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external clients to ensure effective health and safety management
  • Chair internal site health and safety meetings to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Attend client health and safety meetings to provide expert advice and guidance
  • Support site teams in all health and safety aspects, including safe systems of work and risk assessments
  • Review and improve safe systems of work to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Attend and advise during safe start meetings to ensure a safe working environment
  • Manage day-to-day health and safety activities on site, including conducting workplace inspections and reporting findings
  • Conduct investigations into accidents or incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Manage on-site occupational health services to ensure a healthy and safe working environment
  • Coordinate training for project staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles safely
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the company's ISO 45001 certification

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in a busy site-based health and safety role within the construction industry
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, with experience of client-facing work
  • Technical knowledge and experience of providing health and safety support in the construction and building services sectors
  • IT literacy and proficient report-writing skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent
  • CSCS Professional card
  • First aid training
