We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hygiene Supervisor to join our team at 2 Sisters Food Group in West Bromwich. As a Hygiene Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our factory meets the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Main Responsibilities:- Supervise a team of hygiene operatives to ensure that factory hygiene is maintained to industry and customer standards.
- Develop and implement effective cleaning procedures and methods to prevent contamination of product.
- Support with hygiene aspects of internal, customer, and third-party technical/hygiene visits and audits.
- Ensure that all team members are fully trained in their tasks and that staff rotas and overtime are managed effectively.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, including offices and amenities, and ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed and signed off.
- Work closely with other site colleagues to ensure that correct hygiene procedures are followed and escalate any issues that may compromise food safety or quality.
- Lead by example and maintain excellent Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards at all times.
- Manage attendance records and conduct return-to-work interviews following absence.
- Act as the primary contact for the hygiene team during the night shift.
- Ensure that staff store chemicals and cleaning equipment away at the end of each shift in accordance with GMP standards.
- Conduct routine checks of all departments to ensure that they are left tidy.
- Provide leadership and direction to the on-site hygiene teams, ensuring they are focused, engaged, and able to deliver.
- Complete paperwork and reporting to ensure that all records are stored properly, updated, and accurate to audit standard.
- Provide training on cleaning processes, hygiene SOPs and COPs, health and safety, and chemical safety.
- Ensure food safety and health and safety standards are maintained across the teams and investigate any failures.
- Lead the department towards achieving results by coaching, developing, and setting performance targets on a 1:1 basis.
- Communicate effectively with teams, line managers, and other key functions on site to help plan jobs and contribute to improvements.
- Manage poor performance through counseling and disciplinary action in accordance with company procedures.
- Control the use and stock of cleaning materials, chemicals, and PPE to ensure they are used effectively and efficiently.
- Manage the collection of laundry and liaise with the laundry supplier and site technical team regarding any issues.
- Ensure that food safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Lead by example by adhering to company general policies, including food safety, health and safety, absence, etc.
- Drive forward hygiene standards in line with the company's continuous improvement ethos.
- Participate in customer audits and undertake other appropriate duties as deemed necessary within the scope of the role.
- Qualifications: COSHH, Safe Working with Chemicals, Foundation Certificate in Food Safety, and Foundation Certificate in HACCP (preferable but not essential).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years working in a food manufacturing environment, with 2+ years' experience in a similar role or handling similar tasks highly advantageous.
- Skills: Good standard of spoken and written English, solid level of numeracy, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
