Job Title: Residential Childcare Worker

21HSC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Worker to join our team in Edinburgh. As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, promoting their emotional and social well-being.
  • Support the Residential Team Manager in implementing management decisions and policies, ensuring a consistent and caring approach.
  • Provide daily care and support to children, including their physical, emotional, and educational needs.
  • Communicate effectively with children, using solution-focused and strengths-based principles to promote their development.
  • Understand and support children's behavior, helping them to manage their emotions and develop self-regulation skills.
  • Participate in regular reviews and submit written reports on individual children, working closely with the Residential Team Manager and Care Management Team.
  • Undertake domestic and food preparation duties as directed, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all.
  • Attend regular staff and children's meetings, staying up-to-date with policies, procedures, and core values.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • SVQ 3 in Children and Young People, HNC in Social Services, or equivalent.
  • Experience in residential work and/or childcare, including working with children with complex social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of children who are looked after and accommodated, and children with complex additional support needs.
  • Able to handle competing priorities and a challenging workload within a highly pressurized working environment.
  • Full, clean driver's license.
