Drainage Engineer

At National Highways Limited, we are seeking a skilled Drainage Engineer to join our team in the East region. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and evaluating asset data and needs to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria. This will involve designing highway renewals and maintenance schemes, developing early solutions for drainage improvements and/or renewals, and ensuring that asset data and condition information is captured and maintained in the relevant database(s), in line with agreed standards and timescales.

The ideal candidate will have a degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or similar) with post graduate experience or significant vocational experience in a drainage or highways setting. They will also have knowledge and experience of promoting drainage renewals schemes/projects with the ability to work within budgets, as well as knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highway network.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing early solutions for drainage improvements and/or renewals
  • Designing highway renewals and maintenance schemes
  • Capturing and maintaining asset data and condition information
  • Working closely with other internal/external teams, contractors, local authorities, customers, and stakeholders
