Job Overview

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Senior Practitioner to join our Integrated Care Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical advice, training, and supervision to junior staff. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to patients in crisis, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care to patients in crisis, working closely with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide clinical advice, training, and supervision to junior staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external professionals, service users, and their families.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a manner that is respectful and appropriate to all community members.
  • Manage complex and sensitive situations, communicating effectively with service users, other professionals, and external agencies.
  • Line manage a team of staff and students, undertaking annual appraisals and supporting their development.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Mental Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Allied Health Professional, or Social Worker with a degree in health/social care or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment.
  • Experience of working in a busy mental health crisis triage setting or similar.

Desirable Criteria

  • Specialist knowledge acquired through training in a specialised discipline.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel to multiple sites.
  • Manage difficult situations with service users that have complex mental health conditions and challenging behaviours.
