Ecologist Survey Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Ecologist Survey Specialist to join our team at GS2 | B Corp®. As a key member of our environmental consultancy firm, you will play a crucial role in conducting Great Crested Newt surveys and habitat assessments for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Great Crested Newt surveys, including habitat assessments, presence/absence surveys, and population size class assessments.
  • Use a variety of survey techniques, such as bottle trapping, torch surveys, egg searches, and eDNA sampling.
  • Analyse survey data and prepare detailed reports, including impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of ecologist survey experience.
  • Experience of conducting GCN surveys and habitat assessments.
  • Natural England Class 1 or Class 2 Great Crested Newt Survey License (essential).
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, such as the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017.
  • Strong report-writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in other ecological surveys (e.g., bats, birds, reptiles).
  • Full UK driving license.
