Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced School Caretaker to join our team at one of our schools in Wigan. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises, including building and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and tidiness of the school premises, including classrooms, staffrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and other frequently used spaces.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs, as well as minor DIY projects, to ensure the school remains safe and secure.
  • Supervise school cleaning staff and promote health and safety around the school.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to arrange larger repairs and maintenance work.
  • Monitor and report any issues or hazards to the Head Teacher, ensuring a safe working and learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Level Award in Support Work in Schools or equivalent experience.
  • Previous caretaking experience within a school environment.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Basic DIY skills and ability to carry out minor repairs.
  • Ability to work in an environment with SEMH children.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
