As a Data Protection and Compliance Specialist at Asda, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's data protection operations are running smoothly. You will be responsible for managing information requests, incident response, and regulator contacts. This is a fixed-term role covering a 12-month period to cover maternity leave.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing risk-based data protection advice and training to enable data protection by design.
  • Completing Data Protection Risk Assessments and managing Records of Processing Activities for specified areas.
  • Creating and managing Data Protection related policies, standards, procedures, and Privacy Notices.
  • Liaising with Asda's Cyber Security and Data Governance teams to support aligned ways of working across risk assessment processes, policies, standards, and training.
  • Overseeing the data subject rights process, addressing escalations, and providing advice.
  • Managing regulatory contacts process, including responding to enquiries and referred data subject complaints.
  • Managing a data protection coordinator who administers data protection operations processes.

Requirements include an expert level of understanding of relevant UK Data Protection Laws and previous experience working in a data protection role. A recognised data protection certification is also desirable. Experience of working with data protection management software, such as Onetrust, is preferred.
