Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Gather & Gather. As a key member of our kitchen brigade, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the organisation and management of the kitchen, as well as deputising in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in developing and planning menus that meet the expectations of our clients and customers.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of food to the highest standard, ensuring that it is seasonal, of known provenance, and locally sourced.
  • Deputise for the Head Chef in their absence, taking charge of the kitchen and ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with our health, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Work with the Head Chef to deliver all budgetary targets on site, through efficient purchasing and use of existing stock.
  • Responsible for undertaking weekly and monthly stock takes, ensuring that all stock is accurately recorded and accounted for.
  • Manage and develop a team of kitchen staff, ensuring that they are aware of our standards and carry out their jobs in line with those standards.
  • Understand and comply with our health, hygiene, and safety standards, including COSHH and HACCP, and ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with these standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a similar environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety standards, including COSHH and HACCP.
