Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Assembly and Test Technician to join our team at Instron. As a key member of our Transducer Products team, you will be responsible for the assembly and testing of high-quality transducers, ensuring they meet the required performance and quality levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and test transducers, including load cells and extensometers, using the latest relevant assembly processes and drawings.
  • Correctly assemble and test associated test load strings and test fixtures and jigs.
  • Diagnose faults in units under test and implement corrective actions.
  • Inspect and pack customer orders in accordance with current procedures.
  • Report faults and quality issues using Agile quality tools.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to safe working practices, housekeeping, and use of PPE.
  • Be aware of and comply with Risk Assessments, Safety Notice Boards, and COSHH regulations.
  • Use safe and regularly maintained hand tools, fixtures, power tools, and material handling equipment.
  • Apply administrative procedures associated with the use of AGILE and IFS.
  • Contribute to the company's efforts to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Occasionally visit customer sites to assist with installation and commissioning of systems.
Requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of hand tools and tool selection.
  • Quality focus and good attention to detail for small assemblies.
  • Electronic testing and fault diagnosis to component level.
  • Strong ability to read and understand Engineering, Assembly, and Manufacturing drawings.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to enter data into MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Good physical health and fitness due to the requirement of handling, moving, and distributing awkward and/or heavy items.
  • Electro-mechanical/Electronic Wiring background.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical and/or electronic assemblies.
Qualifications
  • GCSE or equivalent level Mathematics.
  • GCSE or equivalent Science base subject, preferably Physics.
  • GCSE or equivalent Craft based subject, Woodwork, Metalwork, Design, Technology.
Additional Information
  • Normal factory environment with some exposure to the open air.
  • Working days Monday to Friday inclusive.
