We are working with an outstanding charity based in the UK, supporting individuals and families.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our client as a Commercial Finance Manager, where you will play a key role in shaping their financial strategy.

Job Description
  • As the Commercial Finance Manager, you will be responsible for producing initial trial balances and draft management accounts for all entities, ensuring timely analysis by the Finance Business Partner.
  • You will also prepare monthly balance sheets, including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, with supporting information.

Financial Accounts and Audit

  • Prepare the draft annual financial statements for all entities, adhering to SORP, Companies Act, and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Compile an audit file, following external auditors' requirements, providing sufficient documentation to support and justify financial statements.
  • Liaise with staff to ensure audit requirements are met on time.
  • Perform internal audits on services as required, providing reports on findings.
  • Develop and execute an annual year-end programme, consulting with auditors and the Director of Finance.
  • Coordinate the VAT project to novate remaining contracts.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in VAT policy and administration, implementing updates as necessary.

Staff Management and Other Responsibilities

  • Manage 7 direct reports, ensuring effective team leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Business Partner to maintain a smooth finance function and foster continuous improvement, focusing on systems and procedural enhancement.
  • Contribute to strategic projects, such as finance transformation initiatives planned for 2024 and 2025.

The Successful Applicant

  • A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or Qualified by experience) with post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in managing financial accounting functions for organisations with multiple branches, subsidiaries, or locations.
  • Coordination of the audit process through statutory accounts production.
  • Review, development, and continuous improvement of financial system processes.
